Second Sunday in May (lyrics)

Roses

Second  Sunday in May
5.9.14

Instead of chocolate gave you flowers
I was ten years old at the time, I think
Twelve long rose stems as if diamond gems
Showing  their colors of yellow, white and pink

The first day of Spring has come and gone
As it is the second Sunday in May
The first day of summer soon comes along
But first comes the second  Sunday in May

I had a picture taken  of the roses and us
Later, had it framed in metal the color gold
It shines bright as stars will in the night
Sealed like a ship  in a bottle never grows old

The first day of Spring has come and gone
As it is the second Sunday in May
The first day of summer comes  along
But  first comes the  second Sunday in May

I might be thousands of miles  cross country
I could  be traveling abroad, overseas
But just a quick look at the photo, we took
The roses brings me home with happy memories

The first day of Spring has come and gone
As it is the second Sunday in May
The first day of summer soon comes along
But  first will come the second Sunday in May

The card that comes with the rose bouquet
Says I’m near even if I’m far away
I ‘ll stop,  drop all to smell the roses
Love you, Happy Mother’s Day
