Blue Ain’t Your Color: Song, Lyrics and Chords

A reader loved ” Blue Ain’t Your Color” and another wanted some chords. This blog is about the chords and the song :
Blue Ain’t Your Color” is a song recorded by New Zealand-born Australian country music singer Keith Urban and written by Steven Lee Olsen, Hillary Lindsey, and Clint Lagerberg. It was released on 8 August 2016 as the fourth single from his ninth studio album, “Ripchord”

The song was produced by Dann Huff.
The song is in the key of G major and a 12/8time signature, with a main chord pattern of G-Am-C-D-G.

Blue Ain’t Your Color Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I can see you over there, staring at your drink
Watchin’ that ice sink alone tonight
And chances are you’re sittin’ here in this bar
‘Cause he ain’t gonna treat you right
Well, it’s probably not my place, but I’m gonna say it anyway
‘Cause you look like
You haven’t felt the fire, had a little fun
Hadn’t had a smile in a little while, baby

[Chorus]
Blue looks good on the sky
Looks good on that neon buzzin’ on the wall
But darling, it don’t match your eyes
I’m tellin’ you
You don’t need that guy
It’s so black and white
He’s stealin’ your thunder
Baby, blue ain’t your color

[Verse 2]
I’m not tryna to be another just
Pick you up kinda guy
Tryna drink you up
Tryna take you home
But I just don’t understand
How another man can take your sun
And turn it ice cold
Well, I’ve had enough to drink
And it’s making me think that I just might
Tell you if I were a painter I wouldn’t change ya
I’d just paint you bright, baby

[Chorus]
Cause blue looks good on the sky
Looks good on that neon buzzin’ on the wall
But darling, it don’t match your eyes
I’m tellin’ you
You don’t need that guy
It’s so black and white
He’s stealin’ your thunder
Baby, blue ain’t your color

[Bridge]
No, no, no
Mmmm, it ain’t your color baby
Mmm, baby

[Chorus]
Blue looks good on the sky
Looks good on that neon buzzin’ on the wall
But darling, it don’t match your eyes
I’m tellin’ you
You don’t need that guy
It’s so black and white
He’s stealin’ your thunder
Baby, blue ain’t your color
Baby, blue ain’t your color

[Outro]
Mmm, no, no, no baby
Come here baby
Let me light up your world

Pick The Christmas Tree

Are you  really busy need to get shopping done  and it is only a week before Christmas?

You are not the only one, enjoy this lyric, available for collaboration :

Pick The  Christmas Tree

Intro:
Christmas gifts to be
Placed beneath the tree
I have received a long list
Rushing to get everyone’s request
I have to make  a quick decision
As I shop this  morning in a hurry
It’s a week before Christmas Eve
Like the movie
“A Miracle on 34 Street ”
A miracle is what I  need
Because first ,  must  still
Pick the Christmas  tree

Verse 1
It’s fast and easy
An artificial  tree
Out of the box fully trimmed
The  ornaments  include
Silver bells and red bows
perfect  little angels
with their halo
The tree  comes in  color white
Looks  as if covered
With  a light  night’s
Fresh fallen snow

Chorus :
Christmas gifts to be
Placed beneath the tree
I have received a long list
Rushing to get everyone’s request
I have to make  a quick decision
As I shop  this morning in a hurry
It’s a week before Christmas Eve
Like in the movie
” A Miracle on 34 Street”
A miracle is what I  need
Because  first must  still
Pick the  Christmas tree

Verse 2:
I remember the search
Each year  for the perfect
Evergreen Douglas fir tree
And the challenge  to tie it
Secure on the car roof
Check the ropes making sure
That they aren’t loose
Excited about trimming the tree
Christmas ornaments
made personally
by family

Chorus :
Christmas gifts to be
Placed beneath the tree
I have received a long list
Rushing to get everyone’s request
I have to make  a quick decision
As I shop  this morning in a hurry
It’s a week before Christmas Eve
Like in the movie
A Miracle on 34 street
A miracle is what I  need
Because  first I  must  still
Pick the Christmas  tree

Bridge :
I’ve loved our tradition
Picking our evergreen
Douglas fir tree
But would it be
so terrible
Buying this year’s tree
Already assembled ?
Looking perfectly

Chorus :
Christmas gifts to be
Placed beneath the tree
I have received a long list
Rushing to get everyone’s request
I have to make  a quick decision
As I shop  this morning in a hurry
It’s a week before Christmas Eve
Like in the movie
A Miracle on 34 street
A miracle is what I  need
Because  first I  must  still
Pick the Christmas  tree

No Shirt  , No Shoes , No Service
May 13, 2016 revised

My hair long hangs in dreadlocks
Wear sandals  without any socks
White T-shirt tied to my belt by a knot
Torn jeans don’t want them to look bought

I am  told I may have a nice face
But don’t want to see it in this place
no shirt , no shoes , no service
Just because I dress like this
It makes people nervous
No shirt , no shoes , no service

My hair  now worn in pigtail braids
Dyed green along with bright red shades
Got fading tattoos,  nipples pierced  fully paid
Shown off by my leather vest not fake  suede

I am told I may have a nice face
But don’t want to see it in this place
no shirt,  no shoes,  no service
Just because I dress like this
It  makes people nervous
No shirt,  no shoes , no service

My hair  now is sun  bleached blond
Show my six pack its  thought I’m strong
Wear a  bathing suit  save lives  from sharks all day long
Yeah so it’s just so totally wrong

I am told I may have a nice face
But don’t want to see it in this place
no shirt,  no shoes,  no service
Just because I dress like this
It  makes people nervous
No shirt ,no shoes,  no service

Out:
Yeah so it’s just so totally wrong
Just  because I dress like this
It  makes people nervous
No shirt, no shoes , no service

Spotlight Song : Tennessee Whiskey now  aka Christ Stapleton

“Tennessee Whiskey” is the title of a country song written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. It was originally recorded by American country music artist David Allan Coe, whose version peaked at number 77 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1981.

Recently,  it was  sung by Christ Stapleton and Justin  Timberlake at the 2015 CMA awards where it stunned everyone with the performance.   The song has been released by Mr. Stapleton prior according to billboard. the first time round the song did not break the top 40  What is the difference, same artist, same song, but different time.  You just can’t give up!

COMMENT:

Lyrics are in the v1/c/v2/c/c/c  form .

[Verse 1]
I used to spend my nights out in a barroom
Liquor was the only love I’ve known
But you rescued me from reachin’ for the bottom
And brought me back from being too far gone

[Chorus]
You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

[Verse 2]
I’ve looked for love in all the same old places
Found the bottom of a bottle always dry
But when you poured out your heart I didn’t waste it
‘Cause there’s nothing like your love to get me high

[Chorus]
You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

[Chorus]
You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

[Chorus]
You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
Well, I stayed stoned on your love all the time

One Songwriter tip blog: “Sorry” Justin Bieber see lyrics in the blog

Song Spotlight: Justin Bieber says ” Sorry ”

Bieber suggested that the song is intended to be a more general apology to the world for his mistakes. Perhaps, he knew ahead of time that he was going to walk off the stage in Norway. The public seems to forgive him the song is right behind ” Hello” . Adele was last weeks Song Spotlight.

Justin will collaborate as proven by this song. On “Sorry,” Bieber collaborated with songwriters Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter.  The song  “Sorry” was produced by Skrillex and BLOOD, and it incorporates elements of tropical house, an EDM genre that’s characterized by a bright sound and Caribbean or Latin influences.

COMMENT:

lyrics and link
[Verse 1]
You gotta go and get angry at all of my honesty
You know I try but I don’t do too well with apologies
I hope I don’t run out of time, could someone call a referee?
Cause I just need one more shot at forgiveness
I know you know that I made those mistakes maybe once or twice
By once or twice I mean maybe a couple a hundred times
So let me, oh let me redeem, oh redeem, oh myself tonight
Cause I just need one more shot at second chances

[Pre-Chorus]
Yeah, is it too late now to say sorry?
Cause I’m missing more than just your body
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

[Chorus]
I’m sorry, yeah
Sorry, yeah
Sorry
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

[Verse 2]
I’ll take every single piece of the blame if you want me to
But you know that there is no innocent one in this game for two
I’ll go, I’ll go and then you go, you go out and spill the truth
Can we both say the words and forget this?

[Pre-Chorus]
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Cause I’m missing more than just your body
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

[Bridge]
I’m not just trying to get you back on me
Cause I’m missing more than just your body
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?

[Chorus]
I’m sorry, yeah
Sorry, oh
Sorry
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?
I’m sorry, yeah
Sorry, oh
Sorry
Yeah I know that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry

One Songwriter tip blog : Adele says ” Hello ” at ” 25 “

Sunday Song Spotlight :
Adele says ” Hello ” at ” 25 ” after three years being gone.

Does Adele write lyrics alone? “Hello” is credited with Gregory Allen Kurstin, “Greg”, as a producer and a writer.

The lyric is a v/c/v/c/b/c format but uses a type of refrain in having the title ( hook) begin the verse. The bridge is interesting in that it is not an instrumental but lacks words except for “anymore.”

It is played in the key of F minor at a tempo of 80 beats per minute. The repeated chord progression heard in the verse, played by the piano, follows a progression of Fm–A♭–E♭–D♭.

Will it be a hit? It presently number one on iTunes!

“Hello”
[Verse 1]
Hello, it’s me
I was wondering if after all these years
You’d like to meet, to go over everything
They say that time’s supposed to heal ya
But I ain’t done much healing
Hello, can you hear me?
I’m in California dreaming about who we used to be
When we were younger and free
I’ve forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet
There’s such a difference between us
And a million miles

[Chorus]
Hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times to tell you
I’m sorry, for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I’ve tried to tell you
I’m sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don’t matter, it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore

[Verse 2]
Hello, how are you?
It’s so typical of me to talk about myself
I’m sorry, I hope that you’re well
Did you ever make it out of that town
Where nothing ever happened?
It’s no secret
That the both of us are running out of time

[Chorus]
Hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times to tell you
I’m sorry, for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I’ve tried to tell you
I’m sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don’t matter, it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore

[Bridge]
Ooooohh, anymore
Ooooohh, anymore
Ooooohh, anymore
Anymore

[Chorus]
Hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times to tell you
I’m sorry, for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I’ve tried to tell you
I’m sorry, for breaking your heart
But it don’t matter, it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore

One Songwriter Tip blog : Who is Mercy Me?

Spotlight Lyricist: Who is” Mercy Me”? I have recently been asked to collaborate on a Christian song.  The lyricist Bart Millard and Pete Kipley wrote ” Word of God Spoke” Billboard magazine ranked the song at the top spot on their 2000s decade-end Christian Songs and Hot Christian AC charts. The lyricist are members of the group but never know might want a collaboration.

Here are the lyrics that I recently wrote:

Strength From Above

I seek Your love strength from above
Seek  my place with You my Lord
Seek your face wait to hear Your word
Seek  that Your will , will be done
Seek evil from my life will be gone
Seek your love  strength from above
Father, the Son , Holy Spirit
Seek all, that’s good, don’t fear it
I seek Your love strength from above

Drink blood and body of Christ
Pray for counsel for your advice
From my heart remove this knife
Follow Your teaching bless my life

Seek  my place with You my Lord
Seek Your face wait to hear Your word
Seek that Your will , will be done
Seek evil from my life will be gone

I seek Your love strength from above
Father, the Son , Holy Spirit
Seek all that’s good don’t fear it
I seek Your love strength from above

Please remember  me , return my lost sight
Take me out of the dark into your light
Christ’s blood and body on the cross gives me rights
Weary and exhausted don’t want to lose this fight

Seek my place with You my Lord
Seek Your face wait to hear Your word
Seek that Your will , will be done
Seek evil from my life will be gone

I seek Your love strength from above
Father, the Son , Holy Spirit
Seek all that’s good don’t fear it
I seek Your love strength from above
